Breast fibroadenoma is a rapidly growing lump which is benign(non-cancerous) , unilateral tumour that causes no pain but grows rapidly and manifests as solid lump.

There are two types of fibradenomas - the sime type and the complex type.In the complex type abnormal tissue changes are present.

• Although it can happen at any age, it most frequently affects females between the ages of 14 and 35. In post-menopausal women, fibroadenomas are less prevalent .
• Before the age of 20, women who use oral contraceptives are more likely to develop fibradenoma than others.

Causes may be hormonal or genetical. Even though genetically present the tumor is triggered by the hormones which causes the growth as the breast tissue contains receptors for the hormones. Breast connective tissues proliferate excessively as a result of hormone sensitivity. It is commonly confused with a breast cyst, carcinoma,lymphoma,metastasis or phyllodes tumor.The two specific tests used to identify the fibradenoma are the breast ultrasound and mammogram.The indicated treatment or the standard treatment for breast fibradenoma is surgery and either of these two surgical procedures are done i.e, either lumpectomy or cryoablation.
